Online Costa Rica cooking classes
Melissa Guzman’s Costa Rican cookbook, Living Longer, Healthier & Happier, remains one of the top selling cookbooks in Costa Rica. For over a year she has also been offering private cooking classes in Jaco where she shares not just her recipes but her stories behind them all while providing a full immersion into the culture of Costa Rica. The pandemic has shifted all of that with travelers being locked out of the country. With so many people now having more time on their hands, more are taking the time to cook and learn new recipes. Like many other industries during this time, Melissa has decided to adapt and is now offering on-line cooking classes for those looking to learn to cook authentic Costa Rican dishes.
Her classes last 1.5 hours in which she will demonstrate and teach to cook 2 of the dishes of the list below:
Costa Rican Ceviche
Gallo Pinto (rice and beans)
Fish in a Tomato/Onion Sauce
Picadillo de papa (potato hash)
Mango – tomato Salsa with chips
Melissa says it is her intention to teach you Costa Rican food, so if someone already knows how to make these dishes and/or want to learn to make a specific dish, she can customize the class. The class is a great way to also connect with family, as she has seen quite a few classes in which family did the classes together.
Between Melissa’s classes and online Yoga classes with Jaco instructor Anabel, those craving to be in Costa Rica can for now at least get a taste, in this case literally.
