After pushing the date back 4 times, Costa Rica announced that they are finally opening up airports to international travelers on August 1. There is a catch however, as some countries have been excluded.
Europe, United Kingdom and Canada will begin with Costa Rica allowing just 5 total flights per week. No announcement was made as to when additional fligts from other countries will begin go be allowed entry.
Travelers will also go through protocols when arriving, including providing results of test showing travelers are negative for Covid-19 (no more than 48 hours old results) and proof of insurance.
Earlier this week, the government announced that the airport has undergone a series of sanitary measurements to help ensure traveler saftey when passing through the airports.
We are still awaiting more clarity and updates to when other travelers will be allowed entry but it is clear that entry to Costa Rica for travelers is going to be a long and gradual process.
